SW 35 - SW 38 - SW 42 (Schwingachswagen 3,5 Liter, 3,8 Liter, 4,2 Liter)
After WW I, Maybach Engine Works had to find new markets - automobile engines seemed to be a good fit. First, it was decided to supply engines to the Dutch manufacturer Trompenburg, but this partner soon filed for bankruptcy. So the company itself became the producer of the chassis in which the engines were installed. With a Daimler body, a first test vehicle was created. It already featured the prominent round radiator grill: The W 1, from which the W 3, the series production vehicle, was to emerge. We are aware of different photographs of the car but the original vehicle has vanished.
